GULF OF CÁDIZ

The Gulf of Cádiz, located in the southwestern region of the Iberian Peninsula, extends from Cape San Vicente, Portugal, to the Strait of Gibraltar, where the Atlantic Ocean bathes the coasts of Algarve, Huelva, and Cádiz. Some of the Iberian largest rivers like Guadiana and Guadalquivir flow into the Gulf of Cádiz, strongly influencing its inherent dynamics.

Sea Surface Temperature

Daily Mean

Monthly Mean

Sea Surface Temperature (SST) daily and monthly gap-free (L4) map interpolated from high (HR 0.0625°) and ultra- high (UHR 0.01°) spatial resolution data over the Southern European Seas. Based on the night-time images collected by the infrared sensors mounted on different satellite platforms (AATSR, SEVIRI, AVHRR, MODIS, VIIRS, SLSTR).

Sea Surface Temperature climatological time series are computed using the climatological data from 1982 unitl 2022. The monthly maps are updated the 1st day of the month, displaying the mean SST of the previous month.

Ocean Colour

Chlorophyll-a surface concentration

Surface Chlorophyll-a (mg/m3) computed daily and based on a space-time interpolation: the Cloud Free' (L4). This product is based on the merging of the sensors SeaWiFS, MODIS, MERIS, VIIRS-SNPP&JPSS1, OLCI-S3A&S3B. Obtained using the Copernicus-GlobColour processor. Surface Chlorophyll-a Concentration climatological time serie is computed using the climatological data from 1998 unitl 2022.
